Working to make a difference, we have been able to:
Underwrite transportation costs to and from treatment for patients in need
Contribute funds to the Bone Marrow Foundation to assist in underwriting testing for potential bone marrow donors on Long Island
Distribute educational brochures and self-examination procedure cards for breast and testicular exams in English & Spanish
Provide financial support for melanoma awareness activities
Work in conjunction with volunteer doctors from North Shore University Hospital at Glen Cove who donate their time & expertise to speak at education seminars.
Reach and teach high school men & women on early detection & prevention
Provide grocery and gas coupons for patients in need
Provide the service of licensed massage therapists for the continuing comfort of patients undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiation treatments
Provide materials and instruction of “Guided Imagery”, a tool for increasing the comfort of chemotherapy patients
Provide educational materials and supportive information to the Glen Cove Public Library and the Glen Cove School District
Provide financial support for research to find the cause and the cure of cancer
Continue the “Garden of Hope” tulip planting program throughout Glen Cove to raise awareness regarding detection & the diagnosis of cancer
Provide support and assistance from a licensed cosmetologist through the“Look Good & Feel Good” program for patients facing chemotherapy and/or radiation treatments.
Award two scholarships to students who have made a difference in their communities
Create “homier” and more comfortable hospice rooms at NSUH at Glen Cove to lift the spirits of patients and those who care for them.
